The knitting machine factory, which was founded in 1873, had been building not only bicycles but also motorcycles since 1901 and was the top export motorcycle factory in Germany before the First World War. Later, cars, tricycles and trucks were also made.

In 1930 the German designer Otto Reitz was replaced by the former Norton chief designer Walter William Moore. The models then changed radically and similarities to Norton, such as the kickstarter and gears on the left, cannot be dismissed out of hand.

The NSU 251 OSL (Top Control - Sporty - Luxurious) from 1934 has a 1-cylinder 4-stroke engine with 242 cc and approx. 67,000 examples were built from 1933 to 1943 and then again from 1947 to 1952. It is fully restored to its original condition, has Italian papers and has an ASI gold medal.

A beautiful sporty classic car with a lot of history, high reliability in terms of engine and chassis. Typical problem areas, as with all "Englishmen", is the slight dripping and the very sensitive carburettor (but there are brand new replicas that will probably solve the problems).

The NSU can be viewed in Ostermünchen by prior arrangement. The motorcycle is being sold by Ruote da Sogno and VAT is not reclaimable or applicable. For deregistration in Italy, Ruote charges 280 euros in addition to the purchase price.
