Due to the pandemic, it took three years before we were allowed to open the gates of the coal bunker at Motorworld Munich for our makers and friends for the second time.
We had to overcome a lot of challenges in the preparations, some of the industry brands and thus financiers of the show could not bring themselves to participate in the event post-Covid. All costs have risen enormously in the meantime, staff in the event area has become scarce. The implementation was in the balance for a long time.
Our friends Carina and Alex from the Twin Spark Podcast report on the first impressions during the construction:
But makers, customizers and other brands motivated us enormously and were there with fire and flames. And in the end we decided to take the full risk of doing it anyway, because somehow it's going to go wrong...
Ten days before the event: Barbara gets sick, Covid positive. Stop working on the preparations, absolute gentle program. And it works, like everything with us, at the last minute, fit and negative two days beforehand.
Parallel two or three days earlier: Arnaldo from Holy Freedom, Karles from Fuel, Theodorus from Thedi Leathers, Charlotte from Wildust Sisters had to cancel due to illness. Improvisation is now necessary. Too bad for the visitors but Corona is a bitch. We're so close, we have to move on now.
Saturday morning, opening, rain. Some brave girls have already come with their bikes and are lining up for the International Female Ride out of Petrolettes. No chance for a sensible trip, it's pouring too heavily, maybe it'll work out later. The wet does not spoil the good mood of the reunion.
Some of the best customizers, such as Crooked, Diamond Atelier, coffee machine, Kingston Custom, MOTOISM or Vagabund from Germany and Austria, had immediately confirmed their participation and offer the opportunity for intensive discussions about petrol. Royal Enfield, Indian Motorcycles and Iwan Bikes show sensational conversions.
Great clothing labels from all over Europe, such as BMW Motorrad, Dainese, Eudoxie, Fuel, Harro Rennweste, John Doe, Roeg or Throttlesnake, were happy to lure one or two euros out of their pockets.
In the new outdoor area, Indian Motorcycle and Harley Davidson tempted House of Flames to test ride the latest machines and Jekill & Hyde provided the right sound. To be on the safe side, Shoei exhibited its range of helmets to try on.
A whole series of motorcycle classics embellished the waiting times for drinks at the Bulleit and Helleluja Bar and the burger from Grace Catering.
Some in-depth, very interesting interviews with Crooked, RGNT, MOTOISM, Eudoxie and Coffee Maker on Podcast Episode #32 of Twin Spark:
Jimmy Cornett & The Deadmen finally rocked live on the big stage again on Saturday evening. How did we all miss that! And a load fell from our hearts and pee in our eyes rose that everyone felt comfortable with us, had fun, accepted our offer and came here and really enjoyed the time together with friends.
A heartfelt thank you to all exhibitors, helpers and, above all, visitors. You are the greatest, without you none of this would have been possible.
Mission completed. 2023 to a new one.
