We flew to Lahore in early October to visit the Resurgence Gear factory. What began as a business trip turned into a story about hospitality, craftsmanship, heat—and friendship.
“Welcome to Pakistan” – and to Malik
At the visa counter, a smile, "Welcome to Pakistan." Malik, the factory owner, was waiting outside. We've known him for over ten years – ever since we were the first to sell Resurgence Gear in Europe. A business relationship grew into trust, and in Lahore, that turned into friendship.
Malik took a whole week off, drove us across the city every day, took us out to dinner, and explained the background. By the evening, over a game of pool, it was clear: We're not just partners—we're friends.
Lahore in numbers – a metropolis on the move
Lahore is one of the fastest-growing cities in West Asia. Well over ten million people now live in the urban area; the metropolitan area has a population of around 18–24 million, depending on the definition. Over the past ten years, the city has grown rapidly: new residential areas, expanded transport, and industrial and service clusters are tangibly transforming Lahore.
Home away from home: Boutique hotel in the DHA
We stayed in a small boutique hotel in the DHA (Defence Housing Authority) – run by a former general. The DHA is a modern district planned and implemented by the military, with wide streets, cafes, restaurants, and malls – cosmopolitan and service-oriented. A stark contrast to the historic old town: Lahore has both.
A new phase of the DHA expansion. The entire infrastructure is ready for thousands of new houses and apartments.
A real shadow cast over this week: smog. Lahore is regularly among the cities with very high levels of air pollution. Add to that 36°C almost the entire week—the people here are accomplishing amazing things under harsh conditions.
600 people, three floors – production with attitude
The Resurgence Gear factory is located in an industrial park in eastern Lahore: around 600 employees work on three floors, with bright spaces, structured processes, and calm, focused teams. In addition to Resurgence, production is also carried out here for SA1NT, Oxford, and NBT, among others.
We experienced good working conditions – not via video call, but in person. Together with the teams, we explored product optimizations and defined new colors for 2026.
People first: lived care & respect
In Pakistan, there is no standard government health or accident insurance for factory workers. Malik takes responsibility here: serious illnesses are covered by the factory; if someone is permanently disabled, the family continues to receive support.
The deeply rooted Muslim faith is evident in everyday life: workers and management pray together up to five times a day; entrepreneurs regularly volunteer to support the poor, for example, by building an entire, very modern hospital to provide free care.
Particularly impressive is the respect shown towards women in the factory – and how well they are integrated into the processes. Many work in quality control. There, their calm consistency pays off: They clearly address discrepancies and enforce standards – also because men are culturally less likely to object. The result is visibly greater process reliability.
PEKEV® Ultra Lite – Protection as part of the fabric
What makes Resurgence Gear special is PEKEV® Ultra Lite. The protective fiber is woven directly into the cotton fabric—there's no separate lining. The result: single-layer motorcycle pants and jackets that wear like everyday clothing, remain breathable, and can still achieve CE protection levels up to AAA. It's precisely this blend of comfort and protection that's why our customers love these products off-bike, too.
Shuttle looms instead of air jets – control beats speed
The centerpiece that left us speechless was the shuttle loom weaving.
-
Shuttle looms work more slowly and with less tension, producing a compact, dense fabric structure and stable edges (selvedge).
-
Air-jet looms are extremely fast and efficient, ideal for high volume production – but require less fine-tuning of thread tension.
For a high-performance fabric like PEKEV®, control is crucial: a dense hand, a smooth surface, and high abrasion resistance – all while maintaining minimal weight. Resurgence consciously chooses quality over speed. You can feel it in your hand and later on your body. In the medium term, Malik aims to have 20 shuttle looms in operation.
Pakistan at a glance – context of the country and economy
-
Country & Location: Pakistan lies between Iran, Afghanistan, China, and India and is a crossroads of historic trade routes. This location shapes culture, cuisine, and trade—influences from Central, South, and West Asia can be felt everywhere.
-
Demographics & Dynamics: With over 240 million inhabitants, a young population, and rapidly growing urbanization, cities like Lahore are driving innovation in services, IT, retail, and textiles.
-
Textile expertise: Pakistan is one of the world's leading cotton and textile producing nations. Along the Lahore-Faisalabad axis (and other industrial/port corridors), the value chain ranges from yarn to garment production. In recent years, the technical textiles sector has also been growing – this is precisely where Resurgence Gear comes in with PEKEV®.
-
Culture & Everyday Life: Hospitality isn't just a cliché, it's a reality. At the same time, challenges such as energy supply, air quality, and infrastructure are real – and are being addressed with entrepreneurial pragmatism.

Briefly explained: PEKEV®, single-layer motorcycle trousers & shuttle looms
-
PEKEV® (Ultra Lite): Highly abrasion-resistant protective fiber , directly woven with cotton → single-layer motorcycle clothing with all-day comfort and high CE protection (up to AAA).
-
Single layer vs. multi-layer: Less warmth , less friction, more freedom of movement – feels like normal jeans , protects like motorcycle clothing .
-
Shuttle looms: Slow but compact fabric build-up and stable edges – ideal for robust, durable fabrics such as PEKEV® blends.
