Gianliugi Santoro is an enthusiastic motorcyclist and as a southern Italian, he always wanted to go to sea when he was young. Both remained his hobbies but have had a strong influence on the Captain Santor's brand. Captain Santor's stands for absolutely timeless quality, inspired by the robust fabrics that sailors used to wear. But today it also fits well into our everyday lives as motorcyclists. With this clothing and a classic bike, you can easily ride to the sea and back again. Or just to work.
His main job is managing a law firm in Bologna, where he now lives. It was only after working for some clients in the textile sector that he became so enthusiastic about having his own label that he learned the trade on the side from his friends at the Italian brand Scarti-Lab. In 2016 he founded Captain Santors.
Gianluigi still rummages through maritime museums to find inspiration in the cuts and materials of the time. He searches all over Italy for these fabrics from local producers and now has a whole series of small tailor shops that still produce everything for him by hand.
He probably got his love of the many handmade details from cooking. He bakes his own bread, makes pasta, but also jams, schnapps and liqueurs, and loves to grill. And so he wants to implement his own creations in his clothing, which is what makes Captain Santor's truly unique. For example, he attaches great importance to a chain stitch on the sleeve of shirts, which can only be done by hand, or that the buttons are made from real bone. A lot of attention to detail that makes a dish simply perfect.

In Gianluigi's large garden near Bologna, we were able to personally enjoy some of his passions first hand during the presentation of the collection. From fantastic handicrafts, excellent food to his own liqueur. And that bonded us almost as closely as the captain and his love of the sea.
