We've heard a lot about the Cafe Racer Festival near Paris. And so we set off for a long weekend in Paris. We were lucky enough to be able to stay with photographer friend Götz Goppert in the middle of Paris and even luckier that a superlative district festival was taking place this weekend. But after a hangover breakfast we went out to the Linas-Montlhery race track, built in 1924.
The 2.5 km long concrete slab oval, partly with an incline of 52 degrees, was very impressive. You could literally feel the spectacular history and what crazy races must have already taken place here.
We have never seen so many high-quality vintage machines at a festival, not just on display, but used to drive. That's why it was a very relaxed, well-organized mix of paddock and exhibitor area, all with typical French charm. It was really impressive that the participants came here primarily to drive on the traditional track and less exclusively to celebrate. Nonetheless, there was no shortage of fun.
